Last
full day today, walked down from the Embassy to Union Station.
It is about as far from the Embassy as I’d want to walk;
it took me about an hour plus you do get a better feel for the place when
you walk.
Union station was better than I expected, it’s been renovated and its now quite beautiful.
There are shops, restaurants and cafes all over.
View from outside.
Another view from outside
The
train side of the station is much like an
Airport, with check-in desks and gates etc. etc.
I walked from there past the Capitol building where the US government sits.
This is where the press sets up for interviews.
Along the mall to the Air and Space Museum.
This building is crammed with full size aircraft,
Spacecraft, Missiles,
Interactive
rooms, old wartime footage and information about flying various types of
aircraft.
I
spent two good hours there.
I
gave the Sculpture Gallery a call before leaving back to the Embassy.
Inside
We had a night on the town as a going back to the UK bash.
All in all a brilliant day.
