Today Paul and I are flying to New York; we set off for the airport, which is about 45 minutes away.
On arrival and at the Check in desk
I was told I could not fly without my passport,
a telephone call and 45 minutes later we had it… thanks to Alison.
The
flight took about 40 minutes and a yellow cab took us to central park.
We arrived just in time to see the start of the St Patrick’s
day parade,
it seemed everybody in New York was there,
a great atmosphere.
We
needed coffee fast, so we went into a small diner.
The diner could not have been more than 10 feet wide.
Then we made our way to Times Square.
We walked a while and took a cab to the World Trade Centre; just looking up made me dizzy.
It's
a beautiful day, let's go on up! After all, we've only been on the 107th
floor,
2 escalators will take us up all the way to the top...1,362 feet!!!
We took a lift up to the 107 floor
where the restaurant and had a great lunch.
The views were unbelievable.
The
Building is about a quarter of a mile high so you can see forever.
You can see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, on one side and all New York on
the other.
CHEERS!!
On
leaving the towers we made our way to china town, the hustle and bustle was
great, all the different stalls selling all manner of foods herbs,
Weird and wonderful roots, and things you could not recognize.
We passed through little Italy walked our way towards Broadway.
Just to walk around and see all the places seen only in magazines and on TV was brilliant.
It
was getting late so we grabbed a taxi back to the airport a shuttle back home
for 8pm,
A fast tiring day but well worth the effort! I couldn’t live there but a visit
yes.
